With Naming Matters, you can search and visualize the availability and riskiness of your candidate names quickly and easily.

Before conducting your first search, we recommend reading through the guide below to ensure the best possible experience and results.

Upon logging into Naming Matters, you'll be presented with the Search page. On this page, enter your first name, and you'll be asked to describe what you're naming. 

Note: If you'd like to enter a list of names, feel free to copy and paste them into the name section, or type them in one by one, separated by commas. However, we recommend you begin with a single name until you're comfortable using Naming Matters.  

Providing an accurate description of what you're naming is key, so that we can provide the most relevant search results. Once you've entered your description, we'll use this information to identify identical and similar names in your described industry, sector or realm.

This process is based on the Trademark Classification system, which you can learn more about here.

Step 3. 'Add your search to a New or Existing Project' 

By tapping on the 'Add Search to Project' button, located just below the 'what are you naming?' field, you can quickly add your search to an existing project, or create a new one. 

Creating a project can be particularly useful if you plan on searching multiple names. 

Once you've created your Project, or chosen to simply leave it assigned to default, execute your search using the large blue Search Now button.

Step 4. 'Add and Remove Trademark Classes'

Now that you've executed your first search, you'll be presented with the the 'Refine your Search' page. Here, our system will suggest the most relevant Trademark Classes based on your description. 

This step is essential to ensure you're only shown the results that are relevant for your name. However, do note that you can always add in additional classes later.

If the recommended classes don't look correct, you can manually add additional classes to your search. To add an additional class, simply tap it to highlight it in green. Similarly, if you see a recommended class that doesn't look relevant, just tap it to remove it from your search. 

Once you've selected your classes, tap View Results to be taken to the Visualization page. 

Step 5. 'Viewing your Results' 

Understanding what you're seeing on the Visualization page is essential to making a decision on the name or names searched.

In this example, the various dots displayed each represent a 'hit' with their proximity to the center of the circle indicating how serious the conflict is. 

Step 6. Check Domain & Social Availability 

Want to check the availability of the name you've searched on various social platforms or domains? Simply tap on the Domain Availability or Social Availability buttons located immediately beneath the visualization.
